Entering the competition

To enter followers have to tweet the answer to the following question under the tag #RBBook:

What makes the Royal Ballet so special?

That means you have 132 characters for the answer + 8 chars for #RBBook = 140 maximum. Please don’t forget to use the hashtag, so we can locate all entries.

For example:

RB r special because they have the best repertoire #RBBook

You can enter as many times as you like between now and the close of the competition at midnight (GMT) on 10 October 2010. Entries from all over the globe are welcome.

On the 11 October Ballet.co and The Ballet Bag will each choose and announce a winner based on what we think are the best entries – the judges’ decision is, of course, final.

We look forward to your entries. Use your imagination, have fun & spread the word!

The Yearbook is also available from Marston Book Services on tel +44 (0) 1235 465 577 or email: direct.orders@marston.co.uk. For a 20% discount (and free P&P for the UK) quote ‘ONTWITTER’. This special offer closes 31 December 2010.

Also available from Amazon.co.uk and all good bookshops.

Price: £15.00, Oberon Books, ISBN: 9781849430029

11  October, 2010 – UPDATE:

Thanks to everyone who participated in the competition! We received many entries and it was tough for us & Ballet.co to pick only one tweet each.

After much brainstorming we are pleased to announce the winning tweets:

@CITLAAAAA (our pick)

Because of the multicultural dancers :D #RBBook

@seenfromafar (via Ballet.co)

Seriously talented dancers who lay their hearts out on the stage in every style. Diversity. Technique. Talent. ART. #RBBook

And our runner-up tweets:

@tufftufftuffin

#RBBook RB are special to me because it’s thanks to them I fell in love with ballet, and thanks to them I’m now pursuing a career in ballet!

@jumpandspin

#RBBook RB dancers are immaculate, every movement in synchrony and every step filled with emotion.

Congratulations everyone!

E&L

We started The Ballet Bag in April 2009 with the mission to prove that ballet is not stuffy, old fashioned and inaccessible; that it is quite the opposite: relevant, fresh and topical. With the aim to Give Ballet a New Spin we try to show it under a different light. When writing our capsule biographies, ballet fact cards, review roundups and commentary on social media, we cross it over with other art forms and cultural references (pop culture, cinema, rock music – ie. other things we love!).
