Ashton Triple Bill: a photo gallery

Zenaida Yanowsky as Marguerite

Undoubtedly the best mixed programme of this ROH season, the Royal Ballet’s latest Ashton bill includes some of our favorite ballets by the choreographer: The Dream, Symphonic Variations, plus Marguerite & Armand with some luxury casts and featuring notable guests like Alessandra Ferri (dancing with Federico Bonelli), Roberto Bolle (with Zenaida Yanowsky) and Vladimir Shklyarov (with Natalia Osipova).

Although we would argue that Zenaida‘s best Ashton roles are Natalia Petrovna in A Month in the Country (we get teary-eyed just thinking about it) and the lead in Sylvia (Wonder Woman mode activated!), Marguerite and Armand, where Zen can raise the dramatic stakes and look glorious alongside longtime trusted partner Roberto Bolle, was certainly a fitting way to say goodbye to the Covent Garden stage this week.

Zen, you were always a joy to watch and we miss you already! Luckily Alice Pennefather was at the general rehearsal to capture these beautiful images:

Alice’s creative talents lie in image making. After studying photography at Falmouth College of Arts, she spent 6 years travelling and working abroad, focusing on scuba diving and filming underwater. She has recently returned to London and rediscovered her love of everything Ballet. Alice now works as a freelance photographer, and is a regular at the Royal Ballet General Rehearsals – photographing for us here at The Ballet Bag.
